Why does it not surprise me that Doug was a member of the "Has Been's"? He was a wonderful, gifted, highly intellegent man with a keen sense of humor, who never took himself too seriously. He always exhibited highest integrity, and he had a knack for making others feel at ease. I had the good fortune to work for him many years. He will be deeply missed. Sincerest sympathy to the family.

My sympathies to the family. I worked in Human Resources at SLAC when Doug was the Director of Personnel. We were all so fond of him. He was a wonderful man to work for and encouraged me so much in my career at SLAC.

Doug was a really good man, with a great sense of hummor and fun to be around. He and Joanne were members of the "has beens" from the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce. We had good times together. Doug was a valuable citizen to Menlo. Carol and I send our best regards to the family.

Doug Dupen was Director of Personnel and Personnel Manager at SLAC, Stanford, over much of the 3 decades I worked there. Mr. Dupen was popular among his subordinates for his fairness and consideration. I knew him in the course of various labor contests with management. Mr. Dupen was always an honorable mediator who genuinely searched for amicable resolutions to sometimes harshly contrary demands. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. His later years included advising senior H.R. management on wider University issues. He made a difference to define and refine the character of an era at Stanford.
