Edith Luise "Edie" Murray

1951 - 2025

Edith "Edie" Luise Murray, 73, of Gamaliel, Arkansas, passed away at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home on Sept. 20, 2025.

She was born on Sept. 26, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Margot (Rester) Wright.

Edie loved gardening, reading books and going out on Norfork Lake with family and friends. She also delighted in spending time with her grandchildren.

Edie was a huge animal lover and a devoted volunteer at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter in California. She cherished her two dogs, Daffy and Mouse. She offered non-conditional love to all she knew.

When she was a teenager, she enjoyed her job as a mermaid in Disneyland, later on she became a postal supervisor and retired after 30-plus years of service from the U.S. Post Office.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margot; her daughter, Christy Plasse; and partner John Dickerson "JD."

She is survived by her three sons, Shane (Kelli), Daniel (Martha) and Michael; her six grandchildren Noah, Kira, Chris, Cassie, Mason and Makayla; also, her two sisters, Joan and Margot, and one brother, Eddie.

Edie's extended family also included her friends and neighbors on County Road 806 in Gamaliel, Arkansas. She loved her little community in Gamaliel. When she moved to Arkansas five years ago, they welcomed her with open arms and made her feel like a native to the area.

A "Get Together in Honor of Edie" is planned for 4 p.m. until you want to leave on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at John and D. Casimer's home on County Road 806.
