Edie, I have some sad news, but since I believe and know that you are surely up in heaven. would you be on the "lookout" for my sweet husband , Kent Roberts, who just recently passed away, ironically on 9/11/2019. The same day the Twin Towers fell in NYC, several years before. I asked him not to go to work that day, because most businesses in the City would likely be closed because of fears of terrorism, but he went in anyway, out of dedication, but as predocted, they closed for the day, being a large public builsing, just in case. I will miss him greatly, as I know you missed Verne. I am certain that he will be up there with both you and your husband now, because you all three were so kind. Please be waiting at the gates to greet him with your usual warm hospitality. Many thanks for all your friendship, generosity and sweetness. I miss you so right now, while I am grieving. Love, from your good friend, -Cid

Edie was a wonderful friend to me and my family. As we were going through very difficult times dealing with my son's sickness, she was there to pray with me and for my son and to lift us up with her smiles and caring. She always encouraged Mike to keep on even when his pain was so overwhelming that he wasn't sure he could make it. Edie, you will be missed by me and my family.

My dear friend Edie, how strong you were in your struggle with your health. You showed everyone so much determination to not give up or give in. And, all while continuing to go about your life in you kind way. Your community contributions will not soon be forgotten, especially the legacy you left as your mark on Half Moon Bay. Not only were you passionate when it came to figuring out a way to "beautify" Main Street with the inception of the 1st Pumpkin Festival but also with your concern for restoring and preserving the Johnston House, and the efforts you put into the Annual Holiday House Boutique fundraiser.
In remembering you Edie, I must not neglect to mention how wonderful a friend and a concerned generous companion you have been to me. I appreciated that you always would sweetly suggest things, and yet not forcefully insist. You adventurously went with me to events in the City or over the hill. We shared the love of gardening, art and cooking, and went together often on Garden Tours on the Peninsula or Art and Culinary outings together in the City. Thank you for taking me to your church, CPC, in Foster City. I can so often picture you reading your bible when I dropped by for a visit, or to help you edit your articles for the half Moon Bay Garden Club and the Filoli Newsletters.
We shared many meals together, both at restaurants, and dining chez-vous. You even came once or twice to the local Curry Club pot-lucks started by Adora and Alan Palmer. One of the memories I will cherish most, was watching you over the weeks, as you hand-crafted those wonderful Santa's for the Johnston House Holiday Boutique. They were so well made, and delightfully unique. I was extremely touched when you gifted me one for my 60th birthday. It was such an unexpected surprise, and one I shall truly appreciate in the years to come as I get my Santa out each year to put on my dining room table on display for the season. Edie, your friendship was true a gift to me, and I will not forget you.
