Edmond McCarthy, 84, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2013. A proud life-long resident of San Francisco, Ed was born on April 26, 1929 to the late Dennis and Delia McCarthy of Ireland. He was preceded in death by his brothers the Reverend Patrick Pearse McCarthy, Seamus McCarthy, Dennis McCarthy, by his sister Maura Haran, and by his nieces Mary Cleere Haran and Deirdre Haran Abeid. He is survived by his sister Patricia Murphy Lautze, his nephews Michael, Martin, and Daniel Murphy, Terry, Ned, and Tim Haran, his nieces Bronwyn Haran, Brigid Haran, Eithne Bullick, and many grand nieces and nephews.
Ed attended St. Paul's Grammar School, St. Ignatius High School, and USF before becoming a San Francisco real estate broker for over 50 years. He was a wonderfully kind and generous man who loved to laugh and took his greatest joy in being with his family and many friends. His Look-Out Cookouts and Christmas Eve Card parties were legendary! An avid fan of all San Francisco sports teams, he especially loved the Giants and was a season ticket holder at Candlestick Park for many years. Later in life, Ed had a wonderful time when he took up square dancing, participating from Plus to Challenge, spending many happy hours with the countless good friends he made there. A loyal and devoted brother, uncle, and friend, Ed will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial Mass will be held on July 1st at 11:00 at St. Charles Church, 880 Tamarack Avenue, San Carlos, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations to a favorite charity are preferred. Sign the guestbook at www.crippenflynn.com

Dear Patty,
What a beautiful tribute to your brother. I would love to hear more about the "watch out cook outs" and the dancing when we gather together.
I am thinking of making a donation to the Junior Giants in his honor.
Much love,
Karen
