ELENA ACCORNERO Obituary

Elena Accornero
Jan 27, 1914 - Nov 24, 2012
Elena passed away peacefully at her home in Millbrae. She is survived by her loving children Norma and Gilbert, her adored grandsons Adrian and Christopher Davis along with their respective partners Tim Roseborough and Todd Betterley. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews in America and Italy with special mention here of her niece Dianne Riccomini of San Francisco, who has been especially helpful over many years. Elena is predeceased by her husband Frank Accornero, her brother Angelo Rebizzo, and her sisters Rosa Riccomini and Maria Marchesi.
Elena was born in Sesta Godano, Italy, to Gianbattista and Maria Rebizzo. At the age of 4 she lost her mother due to complications of childbirth. At which time her older sister Rosa (Rosetta) took over the duties of her mother. At the age of 15 she came to San Francisco to join her father, who had immigrated to SF ten years earlier. Within a few years her two sisters joined her here. Elena loved America from the day she got here. Within six months she became fluent in English and spoke it without an accent. About a month before her seventeenth birthday she married Frank Accornero, a fellow who lived across the street from her father's place in the Dogpatch area of SF. When Frank asked her father for her hand, he responded by saying that Frank was a good and judicious man and that he would consent to the marriage but he had to warn him that "She is too intelligent for you." They enjoyed a long, loving, and successful marriage until Dad's demise in 1987. Mom was an extremely energetic woman up until her early nineties, and she always gave of herself to family and friends. She will be missed.
The family is grateful to her kind and gentle caregivers, Aida and Sofia. Also appreciated are the services of Mission Hospice. Services are private. Donations may be made in Elena's name to the charity of your choice.

I forgot to sign the December 16th message.

Elena's father was right about her intelligence. She as wonderful to me. She had me over for dinner many times and in some ways her and Frank were like second parents. After I married I was remise in not keeping in touch with her. I later found out that this hurt her when I phoned her not too long ago.
It was a mistake on my part that I will not forget. I will always have fond memories of her. My condolences to Norma, Adrian and Christopher.
