Elinore Green Obituary

Elinore Green

July 16, 1932 - December 30th, 2017

Elinore Green, known affectionately by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Mimi", passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home in San Francisco.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years of marriage, Morris Green.
Ellie was born in San Francisco and lived most of her life in the Marina district in San Francisco. She attended Lowell High School and the University of California at Berkeley, where she met Morrie on the steps of Wheeler Hall. She went on to complete her Masters Degree at San Francisco State, and her PhD in Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley.
Ellie had a close circle of friends that spanned multiple generations, and was deeply connected to many friends she had made in childhood years. She deeply loved her family, and was a vital and important part of all family adventures and gatherings. She was devoted to her children and her grandchildren. She was a huge fan of San Francisco sports: the 49er football team,( especially Joe Montana), the Warriors Basketball team, (especially Steph Curry), the SF Giants, and the California Golden Bears. She loved to travel and recently explored Italy on a 3 week excursion. Lake Tahoe was a constant in her life; she spent years skiing in the winter and water-skiing in the summer. Ellie was passionate about dogs, and was successful in training and showing her Golden Retrievers to National levels in both obedience and field competition. She was passionate about learning and furthering her education. She was an avid bridge player and reader, was involved in competition bridge and a monthly book group, enjoyed the symphony and theater with seasonal tickets to both.
Survived by her children Jeff Green (Janie Green), Diane Green and Nancy Gallagher, and her grandchildren Jennifer Green (Ryan Helmstetler), Alison Bradshaw (Drexel Bradshaw), Tyler Bewley (Marcella Bewley), Ashley Gallagher, Lindsay Gallagher and Keely Gallagher and her great-grandchildren Madeline, Abigail and Tala.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 4 at 12 pm at Congregation Emanu-El, 2 Lake Street, San Francisco. Interment will follow at Hills of Eternity Memorial Park, 1301 El Camino Real, Colma.

Please accept our sincere condolences. Elinore was a special cousin to my sweet mother-in-law, Ruth Smiley. I personally treasure my memories of Ellie and all the Green's. I know her memory will always be a comfort to her kids and grandkids.

While I never met Elinore, we are the same age and our paths crossed at Lowell High School Class of 1950 and U.C. Berkeley. My heart goes out to the Green family for the loss.
God Bless You, Rick Bradley
