Elizabeth Comisky Obituary

Elizabeth Comisky
05/22/1924 - 11/15/2025
Elizabeth "Betty" Comisky (nee Hughes) – 5/22/1924 – 11/15/2025
Betty Comisky passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at the age of 101, leaving behind a legacy of joy, resilience and unforgettable energy. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, George Comisky, and her daughter Kathy (Dick) Malone. She is survived by her children, Nancy (John) Shea, Gary Comisky and Chrissy (Gene) Telucci, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Born in San Jose to Roland and Evelyn Hughes, Betty was raised in San Francisco's Mission District during the Great Depression – an experience that forged her remarkable strength and never-give-up attitude. She graduated from Notre Dame Grammar and High School, where she developed the strong values and determination that would define the rest of her life. It was this indomitable spirit that earned her the perfect nickname: "The Energizer Bunny."
Betty and George built a beautiful life together in the Westlake area of Daly City, where they raised their four children with love and laughter. Betty threw herself into family life and her community with her characteristic enthusiasm. She was very active in the Westlake Catholic Women's Group at Our Lady of Mercy Church where she made many friends and enjoyed lunches with those same women later in life as part of the Young at Heart Club. She was also a member of the Traffic Club and a member and volunteer at the Doelger Senior Center with whom she took numerous trips and formed even more friendships. She truly never met a group that she couldn't turn into family!
Betty knew how to live life to the fullest and was never afraid to try something new. At 90 years old, she took up painting and discovered a creative outlet that she didn't know existed. That same year, she famously ran the bases at Oracle Park on her birthday, and upon arriving at home plate, threw Barry Bonds-style kisses to the cheering crowd before striking a triumphant victory pose in celebration with her arms held high. It was pure Betty and absolutely unforgettable. She never turned down an invitation to go to lunch or dinner, loved shopping and, of course, always had time to enjoy a well-deserved Cosmo.
Here's to you, Mom! You lived a great life and will be dearly missed. Keep running those bases.
