Eva Block Obituary

Eva Gertrude Block In San Francisco on August 5, 2011 at age 94. Beloved wife of the late Samuel Block; loving mother of Michael Block (Ellen Moilanen); adoring grandmother of Alison Kanshaw and Danielle Springett; dear sister of Ben Lapin. Eva was born in Bellville, Illinois and moved to San Francisco at age 10. She attended Commerce High School in San Francisco and became a medical transcriber for the San Francisco Naval Hospital. Eva was a member of the California Federation of the Blind and was active in the Rose Resnick Lighthouse. She served on the San Francisco Paratransit Coordination Council. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Salem Memorial Park, 1171 El Camino Real, Colma, CA. Donations to the Rose Resnick Lighthouse, preferred.

Your dear mother remained independent for so long. She was very welcoming and appreciative when we carried the new stove up the long stairway. Time for a coffee break before carrying the old stove down. We discover strengths and habits from mother long after she leaves. Peace be with each of you. Tom
