Evelyn Vega Obituary
June 18, 1924 - January 16, 2015
We will miss Evelyn Vega who peacefully passed away on January 16. Evelyn enjoyed her life with her family until her final days always making sure that there was laughter and enough to eat. She leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Joseph, her children, Christina, Carla and husband Robert Kennis, Joe and wife Lisa, and grandchildren Kevin and Matthew Kennis and Roger and Joey Vega. We are sure our mom is happy to be with her predeceased daughter, Anna Maria, in heaven.Evelyn also leaves behind her beloved neighbors and friends in her Rockridge neighborhood where she lived for 60 years. They made her feel youthful with their attention and concern as they always listened to her jokes and stories.
Evelyn was born in Cincinnati on June 18, 1924 to Christine and Samuel Russo. She came to San Francisco in 1944 where she worked for Italian Swiss Colony and met her husband Joe. After raising her family, Evelyn worked at the California School for the Deaf until she retired to enjoy her grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 24 at Newman Hall ? Holy Spirit Parish, 2700 Dwight Way, Berkeley, CA at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to:

Evelyn Vega was so very lovely. Always felt a grace in her presence. She and Joe had the most beautiful children. Sorry for your sadness, but how divine to have had such a woman for wife and mother. Oh, and grandmother.
