Dearest Nancy,
You entered my life 47 years ago as my caregiver. I watched your pediatric nursing career grow into a lifetime of caregiving and volunteer service. You were "all in" on anything you did. You became an expert in taking care of children with disabilities and special needs. Your work at Children's Memorial and Hinsdale Pediatrics touched many patients' lives for the better.
Your volunteer work as a Docent at Brookfield Zoo and Play Partner at the Hamill Family Play Zoo was phenomenal! You volunteered as often as you could and many years you exceeded over 500 hours of service. Your 2016 Twiga Award, as the top volunteer at the zoo, was an incredible accomplishment! The number of people connections and friends you made during those 28 years were uncountable and extremely valuable. Everyone valued your input and opinions.
Our life in Riverside, IL was amazing. We traveled the world together to explore different places. You also enjoyed being at home going to the Loyola Fitness Club for exercise classes six days a week where you made may friends and inspired your classmates. You enjoyed taking nature walks, reading, and watching all kinds of sports events. Cubs all the way! Your favorite pastime was loving Freeloader and Snuffles, our spoiled cat kids! You were the best Mom!
Your battle with many health issues in your final 100 days was fought with intensity and positive thoughts every step of the way. I am so proud of you for your courage and bravery. You will be remembered by all who had the good fortune to know you. You were loved and will be greatly missed here on earth. However, your spirit remains with us all until we meet again. Please watch over all of us who loved you as we try to live our lives fully. We will strive to live our best lives, Nancy, as you so aptly accomplished yourself.
Nancy, you were the most dedicated and greatest life partner that I could have ever hoped for in my lifetime. You will never leave my heart, and your positive spirit will be with me forever. I hope I have made your life as fulfilling as you have made mine. Rest in peace, my love. I will celebrate your life and be comforted by the thought that we will be together again in heaven one day.

We met Nancy when she was a nurse at my son´s pediatrician. She was the best and so helpful. At one appointment she told us about the Family Fun Saturdays program at the Brookfield Zoo where she volunteered. We signed up for the program and my son loved it so much that we went back to the program several times. She was great with my son and so nice. We are so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a great person.

Nancy was such a gift to everyone she met! She was an example of kindness and compassion to others. Nancy cared for everyone, people and animals included! Nancy was always quick to volunteer and help those in need at the Zoo. Nancy was so smart and knew so much about everything! Nancy also was generous with her time to help others. We need more people like Nancy in this world! Sending prayers and condolences.
