Fletcher Chan Obituary

Fletcher Calvin Chan Fletcher passed away peacefully Saturday, from injuries sustained in a fall the previous day. Born in San Francisco, to Bow and Lillian Leong Chan, after high school, Fletcher joined the Army and served in Korea . He graduated from SFSU and held legislative and research analysis positions, spending many years at Bank of America and Blue Shield. Fletcher loved a good political discussion, betting on the horses, movies, literature, and writing reviews of films. He was very proud of being published and continued writing until the day he left us. Fletcher's family, especially his grandchildren, were the light of his life. Fletcher is survived by his wife, Barbara ( Mt. View ), his daughters Christina Cox (Jeff) and Alisa Stansbury, and his adoring grandchildren. He was a kind, thoughtful and generous man, who will also be greatly missed by family and friends, especially Larry and Carol Rivers. Fletcher was predeceased by his parents, and by his old pal, Ray Mason. We hope that Fletcher and Ray are having a ball, picking their horses together, up above. A celebration of Fletcher's life will be held on Sunday, 10/4/09, at 2 p.m, St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, in the Chapel. Fletcher designated Mid Peninsula Hospice Foundation for memorial donations (408) 730-1200.

Dear Barbara,

I was so sorry to hear of Fletcher's death and to see that it was two weeks ago! I also am sorry that we had drifted out of touch over the years because both of you had been such good friends of Ellen and I. Your sense of loss will pass with time, as I know.
