Frank Ratto Obituary

Frank Ratto 72, lost his battle with ALS, peacefully, at home with his wife of 51 years, Dorothy, at his side. Frank is survived by his 10 children: Frank (Stacey), Sissy, Debbie Epidendio (Rich), Troy (Carolyn), Cathi Matsumura (David), Evie Ronshausen (Jeff), Bubba (Nancy), Kevin (Liesa), Dino and Derek. And now he joins his son Anthony (Mary Beth), in heaven. Frank is also survived by his brother Joey Ratto. Frank was born and raised in San Francisco and Marin County. He was owner-operator of F.J. Burns Drayage, in San Francisco, with his father, Joe Ratto. Frank's life was devoted to his wife, Dorothy, his 11 children and 25 grandchildren. His passion for sports touched many lives throughout the county. From being a team player at Marin Catholic and College of Marin to a coach of 28 years for Dixie baseball, Frank was an example of dedication, sportsmanship and talent. He also enjoyed being a spectator, attending both his children's and grandchildren's endless sporting events. Frank's other interests included fishing and family vacations in Dunsmuir. His never ending repertoire of "life stories" and sense of humor will truly be missed. A Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM at Mount Tamalpais Mortuary, Wednesday Feb 8th. A Rosary will follow at 7:30 at St. Isabella, Franks parish of 43 years, in Terra Linda. Funeral Mass will also be said at St. Isabella on Thursday Feb 9th at 11:00 AM. Donations to Forbes Norris Clinic of SF, ALS Assoc./MDA, and Hospice of Marin would be appreciated.

My heartfelt sympathy to the entire Ratto clan - and there are alot of you! I didn't know Mr. Ratto well, despite the many days and nights as a child I spent there. I remember meals with the big family - an amazing feat to me coming from a small family; even more amazing now that I am a parent! I remember my impression that Mr. Ratto worked hard and had a great smile. I am sorry for your loss. Pam (Malley) Taplin

My heartfelt sympathy to the entire Ratto family. Mr. Ratto's passing has brought up many fond memories of life on Las Pavadas Avenue in the early 70's including Mr. Ratto teaching me how to play Solitaire.

Wishing you all peace and comfort from your former neighbors, the OConnors.

Deepest sympathy to the Ratto family. Nice memories as a kid riding in the back of the blue, later red pickup truck with Sissy, Deb, Ant and Troy with Mr Ratto at the wheel. Best wishes to all the Rattos.

My deepest condolences to the Ratto Family. I will always remember Frankie as a big lovable ball player on my dads team. He was Big Frank, I was little Frankie the bat boy and there were three other Frank's including my dad. Frankie was my favorite player he would always find time to play catch, kid around and tease me. He was a lot of fun. Those teams won many championships over the years and Frankie was a mainstay of a great group of guys. My dad loved his hustle and Frankie would do anything to win. One game against the Spiders he slid so hard into 2nd base, he broke the guys leg. He felt bad about it later. Frankie has a great impact on my early years and will always have a special place in my heart. Im' sure my dad and Frankie are up there sharing stories about the "good old days".

God Bless,

Frank Lucia Jr.
