Dear Lynn
Thank you for informing us of your dear Mother's
passing,
Fusa was one of those rare individuals who
had a special gift of exuberance and joy.
She always lifted your spirits and put a
smile on your face, even when we didn't
see each other for long periods of time,
the magic was always there,
Although she is gone, we will always continue
to feel her warmth and joy, with gratitude
for having had her wonderful presence
in our lives,
Our prayers are with you and your family
members as you go through this sad
time of parting,
with loving thoughts,
Sets Ogami

On behalf of the Japanese American Veterans Association, I want to extend our deepest condolences to you and your family over the passing of Fusa. We hope you take pride in Fusa´s "Go For Broke" spirit and accomplishments - especially her perseverance against all odds that led to the success of the Stamp Our Story campaign to honor the Japanese American WWII veterans with a USPS stamp.
We want you to know how much JAVA appreciated her tireless and unwavering dedication to recognizing the contributions of the Nisei veterans (her husband, one of them) during World War II. Indeed, JAVA and the entire Japanese American community are indebted to Fusa for her leadership in the Stamp Our Story campaign. The fifteen-year effort was not without its frustrations and challenges. And as JAVA works to ensure the legacy of the Nisei veterans will not be forgotten and to foster patriotism and inclusion today, we will look to Fusa´s example for inspiration, knowing that battles are not always quickly won.
All of us will be thinking of you in the coming days and months as you mourn.
Again, sincerest condolences,
Gerald Yamada, JAVA President
