George Miram Obituary

George V. Miram 02/10/1923 - May 1, 2011 Beloved husband of Eugenia Miram, devoted father to Marina (Larry) Quinn of Saratoga, and George A. Miram (Elaine) of Redwood City, and loving grandfather to Amanda Melhus, Christopher (Lindsay) Melhus, Alexander Miram and Molly Miram. George was an extraordinary, selfless father and colleague who was generous with his time and knowledge. He was a man who was loved, respected and admired by all who knew him. Dedicated to his family, above all he cherished his wife Jenny, with whom he shared 60 loving years of marriage. Together they lived a life reflecting and celebrating their remarkable Russian heritage. George was an internationally recognized expert in the field of electron optics and held 32 patents. He had a lifelong career at Varian and continued his consulting work until a day before his death. He enjoyed competitive tennis, ballroom dancing, and soccer. George will be greatly missed, and his children and grandchildren will always treasure his memory. Friends and family are invited to a Panihida Service at the Burlingame Russian Orthodox Church on Tuesday May 3, 2011 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at 11:00 am at the church, followed by burial at the Serbian Cemetery.

Dear Miram Family,

My memories of George date back to the mid-60's when I joined the High Power Klystron marketing team in San Carlos. I will never forget his kindness a few years later in allowing me on the same tennis court as a rank beginner, not once but several times. This may sound trivial, but it is a testimony to George's outgoing and helpful spirit.

George's Beloved Family,
The news of George's death saddens me greatly. My memories of George start back to the days when he was working in Eimac's Belmont Laboratory group. There George and I worked together to fine tune a pulse cathode test set; his drive to achieve near perfection was without equal. And his zeal kept me focused for more hours than I care to think! But his cheerfulness made the time pass in a very pleasant way!

Despite our infrequent contacts. I always knew that I could count on a cheerful greeting whenever our paths might cross.

I too will miss him!

Dear Miram Family:
George was a wonderful friend to the Miller family for many years. I remember him coming to our home after tennis at Parkside to repair our TV set. The times at the Russian River. He was a dear friend of my parents, Russell and Bernice and was truly a man ahead of his time. He will truly be missed.
Our deepest sympathy,
Dr. Ronald Miller

Dear Marina & Georgie & family,

We are so sad to hear of George's passing. He was a wonderful and talented man and a great dad. Watching him work on anything electronic always transfixed us as kids.

Dear Miram Family,
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. You always spoke so highly of your dad/grandfather. We know what it is like to lose that special person, and it hurts. Remember the laughter and smiles you shared, and the little every day life things that make you think "dad/grandfather".
Fondly,
The Dames Family
