Giuseppina ("Pina") Malatesta was born in 1933 in Perugia, Italy. She met her beloved husband Pietro in San Francisco and they were married for 63 years before Pietro's passing in 2016. She was the cherished Mother of two children Peter (Denise) Malatesta and Santina (Steve) Knedler, proud Nonna of four grandchildren Dominic (Stephanie) Malatesta, Jessica (Spencer) Anderson, Dana (Matthew) Montanez and Joshua Faye (Anna McPherson), and treasured Bis-Nonna of five great-grandchildren Mia and Dante Malatesta, Nolan and Miles Montanez, and Riley Anderson. Pina is survived by her brother-in-law Sergio DiStefano and numerous family members both in California and Italy. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, Nonna and Bis-Nonna, she had a varied working career at Simplicity Patterns, Molinari Deli, See's Candy and Macy's. She was the most incredible cook and baker who thankfully passed down many recipes to her family who loved Nonna's cooking.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, June 8, 2023 beginning at 4:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM at Chapel of the Highlands, 194 Millwood Drive, Millbrae. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Robert's Catholic Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Road, San Bruno. Committal to follow at the Italian Cemetery in Colma.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Pina's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Salesian Boys' and Girls' Club or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
