Hans Pawlowski Obituary

Hans Paul Pawlowski
April 12, 1937 - May 3, 2022
Hans Paul Pawlowski, German by birth, but American by choice, passed away peacefully at home following a struggle for most of his adult life against the insidious effects of diabetes. He was 85.
He is survived by his partner of 51 years, Robert Pacini.
Hans was a native of Berlin, Germany. By his mid-twenties he had become an award winning portrait photographer. Then the new world beckoned and Hans said vedersehen to Berlin and accepted a photography position in Kansas City, Kansas, of all places. That was his introduction to America. He eventually made his way to California and eventually San Francisco. While still pursuing photography, he earned a degree in accounting and worked for several local financial institutions.
Away from the office Hans loved to don his chef's hat. Those who knew of his culinary skills coveted invites when he made his signature dishes. herb-crusted rack of lamb with a cold lemon souffle for desert. Something for a Forty-Niners tailgate party? No problem. How about a fantastic Cesar salad, which he often assembled at the old Candlestick parking lot before the game, or a bowl of hot home-made split pea soup for those chilly November and December games.
Hans was equally at home at the opera and symphony where he could hear his two favorite composers. Rossini and Dvorak, or at Giants baseball and of course at the Forty Niners, with or without Cesar salad.
In addition to Robert, Hans is also survived by nieces and a nephew in Canada.
Hans chose cremation and a brief, private service will be held fulfilling Han's final wish to "become part of the sea."
Those wishing to honor Hans' memory may consider a contribution to two of his favorite causes, the Make A Wish Foundation, or any animal humane organization.
