When I´m near the ocean looking at fishing boats, ocean conditions ,I still think I got to call Harry and let him know. Hard to believe he´s gone.

Its been 15 days since you left us and i´m ready to put in writing all the wonderful things you did for me. You taught me at a very young age to fish in the ocean (my first catch I was 6), to climb mountains (at 7 yrs old we as a family hiked Mt Tam to the top), how to repel cliffs to get on the beach to clean sea urchins, to skin dive and swim with the sea lions at Stillwater Cove and Sea Ranch. To never be scarred of the unknown and to never give up. To find a job doing something that makes you happy and you can make money doing. One of my fondest memories was in `98, Nissan closed its corporate office and i was out of work so he moved the Moonraker up to my dock in Discovery Bay so we could try out the crawdad fishery on the Delta. It was the happiest time in my carrier, we did terrible but we had so much fun everyday (well except for working for Dan & Ayde at Weber Electric).
Dad always taught us to be faithful and grateful for gods blessings and that family comes first.
You taught me to share with the less fortunate and taught so many of my friends how to dive and fish which I will always be grateful for.
You taught me to be brave; like the time Jim and you were diving off the boat up north and I was spotting on deck. They´d been down a long time and i was beginning to worry when all of the sudden a whale the size of the boat came side by side with me, I panicked and kept trying to pull them up by their hoses, I truly though the whale had ate them for lunch. When they finally came up they were as calm as could be and only laughed at me saying you worry to much.
Im hoping he is now with my mom, his parents and all of his buddies enjoying the afterlife swimming in the heavens.
Until we meet again, with all my love, your daughter Liz

Saw Harry´s obit in last Sunday´s SF Chronicle. Bought his fish and abalone for many years down in Half Moon Bay. I truly honored and respected him. A real "man´s man ". No "airs". He did not care, or need, any notoriety for what he did. He just did it.

So sorry to learn of Harry's passing. He was a good fireman and a good guy. In retirement we played golf many times, usually at Northwood. He was fun to golf with and had a good attitude about the game. My sincere condolences to the family.

Harry was one of the best. I worked with Harry in the SFFD 15 years and fished and dove with Harry . I never saw Harry get excited or angry working at a fire or fishing and diving. When you went to a fire with Harry always knew he was going to get you out safely. I´m really going to miss Harry. Gods speed

I was fortunate to have worked with Harry for 12 years at station 9. He was a good fireman, boss, and water man. He spent a lot of time in the ocean, fishing and diving. He was also a good mechanic . He had a ton of life experience , practical knowledge, and common sense . He was cool under pressure, and never stressed out. Captain Boscacci said, when the walls were falling down around Harry, he would say, everything is fine. He was one of a kind. He will be missed. He leaves behind lots good memories. RIP my friend.

I met Harry at Station 9 around 1975. I was also in Battalion 10 of the SFFD and first met him on a detail. When you met Harry, it was impossible not to like the guy. Friendly, knowledgeable, interesting , and always respected by his crew and workmates. I watched him over the years build the perfect boat to fish and cruise the waters all around the Bay Area, Alaska and even Mexico. Many fine fireman were his crew members over the years. He will be missed by his brothers in the SFFD and all the fishermen who he met while fishing the waters he loved so much.
RIP, Brother
