Herbert Carl

Herbert Carl October 2, 1928 - January 10, 2007 Herbert Carl, a long time Albany resident, passed away after a short illness on January 10, 2007. Herb, as he was known, was 78 years old. Herb was born and raised in San Francisco, spending a lot of time in Golden Gate Park where his father was chief engineer of the numerous pumping stations serving the park. Herb retired from World Airways after a long career as an airplane mechanic and was well known to his friends and neighbors for always wanting to help people and to fix things, especially his beloved MG. Herb is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pat; brother, Fred (Jeanne) of Vallejo; sister-in-law, Denise Clancy of Walnut Creek; niece, Carol Chapman of San Anselmo; nephew, Paul Clancy of Walnut Creek; niece, Julie Uusinairkaus of Helsinki, Sweden; friend-since-grade school, Ed Simons of San Rafael and many relatives, friends and neighbors. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Ambrose Church, 1145 Gillman Street, Berkeley. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Herb's honor may be made to a charity of the giver's choice.
