I always will have good memories of Howard's down-to-earth good natured way. He was good parent , husband and friend to many.

Kathy, Betsy and Bonnie,
So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. My mother sends her condolences too, as does Scott and my wife Jan. Such good memories of the many great times we spent with your mom and dad, and all you girls around your pool on Jane Drive.
I'll see you on Sunday at the service.
Ken, Jan, Scott and Tiki.

To Howard's Beloved Family,
Though you all lived a half-continent away from us Minnesotans, all of the McVay kids felt a great affection for and link to Howard. We looked forward to the times he would visit, and loved to be with him and Pete on the farm as they rode the pastures, discussing horses, debating the international oilseed markets. I always valued and admired the fact that Howard and Nancy gave priority to spending time with old friends and always felt connected to a long history when they were around. Howard chuckled quietly and said nothing when Nancy put acorns under our pillows and send me a quacking duck hat at the Cargill office. My daugher Elizabeth remembers him for having jeans with a bleach stain, just like she did. (His from swimming pool maintenance, hers from a careless laundress mother.)He was a loyal friend, and the memories of the times, variously happy, tragic, fun or demanding, that he shared with our family, and particularly with my father, will remain a warm memory and an inspiration.
With love to you all,
Kita McVay

Rest in peace, Howard. Fond memories of you, Nancy, Lee, and your entire family will always be in my heart. Howard was a big part of my life growing up while working with my father (Norm Richards) at Cargill Inc., going to 49er games together at Kezar Stadium, and horseback riding.
Jerry Richards of San Francisco on behalf of the entire Richards Family of Millbrae. (Norman, Elaine, Jim & Susan) God bless.
