Ida Pitto Obituary

Ida H. Pitto May 12, 1916 - January 28, 2012 At rest in Alameda, California after a long battle with vascular dementia at age 95. Ida is succeeded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Dominic "Doc" Pitto and her son Ronald. She is survived by her son Richard and his life partner Ernie Sanchez, her daughter-in-law Jeanette, her grandson's Justin and Shane and their wives Amy and Tammi and her five great grand children: Ronan, Rylee, Kayla, Haley and Anissa and a multitude of friends. A native of San Francisco, she was born on Alabama Street on Protero Hill to her Italian immigrant parents, Dominico and Mary (Rulli)Vitucci and was raised in the Mission. Ida is a graduate of Commerce High School class of 1934. She worked at White Stag Clothing Company as a bookkeeper and volunteered as a Candy Striper at Doctor's Hospital of Pinole for over 15 years. Family and friends may visit after 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2012 and are invited to attend a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. The funeral will follow on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 9:00 AM departing from Holy Angles Funeral Center, St. Joseph's Cemetery, 2540 Church Lane, San Pablo. Thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2808 Lakeshore Avenue, Oakland, CA where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Committal to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, San Pablo, CA. Immediately thereafter a reception and celebration of Ida's life will be held at La Strada Restaurant, 2215 San Pablo Avenue, San Pablo, CA. All family and friends are kindly requested to attend as was Ida's wish The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Cardinal Point (Monika & her angel's) and Bay Harbour Care Home (Isabel & her Angels) for their loving support and for their dedication to making Ida's last days as peaceful and comforting as possible.
