James Porep Obituary

James Porep, Sr.

Known by all who crossed paths with him as "The nicest guy in the world", Jim Sr of Orinda, Ca passed peacefully on in his sleep Thursday, September 24.

Jim loved baseball and was a promising pitcher until a shoulder injury prevented him from persuing it, after which he enjoyed playing for fun and closely following his home team, the Oakland A's.

Jim ran film cameras in the early days of TV sportscasting, working with his brother Walt, one of 8 siblings, and he later co-owned a video production company with his son serving another of his favorite sports - horse racing. He greatly enjoyed his work, the "crew" and all his friends in the racing community. He retired late & went on to enjoy lots of travel & fun with his best friend and wife, Mary.

Jim Sr will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Mary, and his family Jim Jr and Julie, grandchildren Shiva & James III as well as many nieces and nephews.

Never a harsh word spoken, he will always be remembered with love for his pervasive kindness and generosity.
