Jane Hansen Obituary

Jane Hansen
09/30/1937 - 02/11/2026
Jane Hansen, 88, passed away on February 11 in Sanford, Fl. She is survived by her brother, 2 children and 2 grandchildren. For health reasons she had been living in Florida for a couple of years. But her heart and soul will always be in San Francisco, the city she loved.
Jane was born in Joplin, Mo. As a young woman she joined the State Department so she could see the world. She met and married her husband in 1961 while working at the American Embassy in Benghazi, Libya. Unfortunately it was not a forever match and they divorced in 1980. She left the State Department to raise her family.
Jane went back to work when her children started school. She was a Human Resource manager with the IRS until she retired.
Jane was always active. Whether volunteering at Martin de Porres House of Hospitality, her church or anywhere else she was needed.
She was often seen walking her small pug, Carmella, on the streets of San Francisco.
Jane's death will be felt by her many friends and family members.
In lieu of flowers please donate time or money to Martin de Porres House of Hospitality on Potrero, San Francisco, in her honor.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I knew Jane during the late 1970's, when we worked together at IRS. We also lived within minutes of each other in the Danville area. She was a good friend and she gave wonderful dinner parties. At one of them, she taught me how to cook and eat artichokes! Glad you chose a pic of her laughing, because that is how I remember her.
