Jay Scott Obituary

Jay Anton Scott

March 30, 1967 - July 2, 2015

Jay Anton Scott passed away peacefully at home July 2, 2015 at the age of 48. He was born on March 30, 1967 in Concord, California.

Jay grew up in San Francisco in the Sunset District. He attended Hoover Elementary School and McAteer High School, graduating in 1985. Jay and his wife Justine met while attending McAteer High School and later married. When their son Timothy was born, Jay expressed how Tim had changed his life completely by giving him so much joy and a whole new purpose in life.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Albert Visser, Jane and Max Burkart, Ann and Waldron Scott.

Jay's spirit continues to reside in the loves of his life - his adoring Wife, Justine and his precious Son, Timothy. In addition, he is survived by both of his beloved Parents, David Scott and Janice Smith, Sisters Summer and Leila Scott, Brother Matt King, Uncles Robert Visser, Scott Smith and Aunt Susie Burkart-Smith, His Cousins Joey Dolan, Samantha and Jason Farris and daughters McKenna and Cheyenne, Michael and Norma Moran, Judy Fruzzetti and Family, and Patrick Moran, Father-in-Law Ken Smigelski and a multitude of friends, each and every one of them dear to his heart. The hole left by his passing is deep and he will be greatly missed.

Jay took great pride in his work and gave 110% to every endeavor. He was a member of the Painter's and Taper's Union 913, the Presidio Trust, and Carpenter's Union Local 22. He worked on numerous buildings throughout San Francisco, including the renovation of City Hall, the Metreon and restoration of the Beach Chalet.

Jay was an Avid SF Giants and 49er fan and always had a way of evading the entry gates to see the games. However, his favorite sport was watching his son Tim play baseball. Jay was highly involved and dedicated to all Timothy's sporting endeavors and enjoyed the camaraderie of the team's families. As a family, Jay, Justine, and Timothy loved to cook together. Their home was always filled with laughter and much love.

He will be remembered and cherished in our hearts as a benevolent and loving Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Nephew and Dear Friend and Confidant to all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held in Jay's honor from 12:00PM to 6:00PM on July 18, 2015 at Pine Lake Park at Sigmund Stern Grove, San Francisco. If you must wear black - let it be orange & black otherwiseÂ…happy colors only. He would like that.

It's probably been 30 years since the last time I saw Jay. I think I was in 6th or 7th grade the first time I met him hanging out on the bleachers at McCoppin Field with his buddies Will & Richie. My best friend from childhood- Anna went to Hoover as well. We hung out with the same crowd all through high school. I always remember Jay as being a sweet, easy going guy who somehow managed to stay out of trouble even though his buddies would stir things up wherever they went! I am shocked & saddened by his passing. My deepest condolences to his wife & son. Rest in Peace Jay. . .

Jay my dear student, I met you when you were 14 and I was your high school counselor. No one could make me laugh like you did, always smiling , always lanughing. And how the girls loved you. You have remained in my memory all these years because you Jay are a very special person. Audre Hallum McAteer High

You were a very special person. Everywhere you went laughter and fellowship followed. Though we only saw each other on special occasions knowing you were out there being you always made me happy and gave me hope. There are to few men like you left and the world is certainly a poorer place without you. There will always be a hole in my heart and at the thanksgiving table. RIP Uncle
