Jennifer Valcov Obituary
Jennifer Rose Valcov
03/29/1962 - 10/12/2025
Jennifer Rose Valcov, age 63, died suddenly and unexpectedly in her sleep on 10/12/25, leaving her parents, her husband, many friends, and two much loved kittys to mourn her loss.
Jenny was born on 3/29/62 in Columbus, Ohio to parents Allen W. Valcov and Eileen Leitner Valcov, who were graduate students at Ohio State at the time. When she was six months old the little family spent a year in the bay area so Allen could pursue a psychology internship at the VA in Menlo Park. They loved the area so much they resolved to return when their Ph.D. studies were concluded.
In 1968 thy moved to San Mateo where Allen began work at the San Mateo County Mental Health service, and then to Belmont where they still reside.
Jenny graduated from Carlmont HS then earned a BS in biology from San Francisco State University. She held various roles in companies doing research in biological fields. In 2007 Jenny married her perfect partner, Jonathan Coxhead, an Englishman here to work in the high tech field. Together they formed a wonderful life filled with many friends in the folk dance and music community. They gave fabulous parties when friends would come to play their fiddles, and all would dance. On one memorable occasion they had so many guests they ended up dancing in the street of the cul-de-sac, inviting all their neighbors to join in. They also hosted sing-a-longs, game nights, and literary evenings reading excerpts from Beowulf. Those who suffered through it all were rewarded with one of Jenny's fabulous desserts.
In addition to being a great cook and wonderful hostess, Jenny was a caring, loving person, always there to lend a hand, and a constant source of care and attention to her aging parents whose hearts are broken by the unexpected loss of their only child.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday December 6th at the Crippen & Flynn Funeral Chapel, 1111 Alameda de las Pulgas Avenue, Belmont. Reception to follow at the parents residence. If you would like to make a donation in Jenny's memory, please do so to an animal welfare organization of your choice, or to the Nine Lives Foundation in Redwood City as Jenny was a big supporter of caring for homeless cats.
