Joan Drury

Joan Drury March 16, 1925 - April 10, 2009 Resident of Oakland Joan passed away peacefully on April 10th. She was 84 years old. A resident of Oakland's Mercy Center, and a former resident of Concord and San Francisco. She was born to Angelina and Luigi Ghigliazza on March 16, 1925 in San Francisco, and lived there until 1991. Preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband George, Joan is survived by her children William, David (Stacy), Father Michael, Robert (Angela), Virginia San Souci (Michael), and Loretta Kadash (Scott). Also survived by her grandchildren, Cristy, Amy, Brian, Daniel, Amanda, Kevin, Stephanie and Mark Drury; Michelle, Nicholas and Robert San Souci; and Michael and Andrew Kadash. She is also survived by her brother, John Ghigliazza. Joan was a devoted Catholic who enjoyed her family, her friends, her garden, and the companionship at Mercy Center. A vigil celebration of Joan's life will be held at 6:30pm on Monday, April 13th at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 860 Oak Grove Rd., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 3255 Folsom St., San Francisco, at 10:30am on Tuesday, April 14th. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mercy Center, 3421 Foothill Blvd., Oakland. Arrangements by Moore's Mission Funeral Home, Concord.
