Jack, you were one of those people with that certain something that just don’t come along everyday. You had pure goodness in your heart and I am forever grateful that I had the good fortune to have you in my life in the time that I knew you. We have lost you too soon, but know that you are with God now, as he wants it. I will miss you forever and cannot wait to see you again in heaven when it is my turn. You will always be in my heart and I know, watching over all of us. You have many family and friends whose lives have been forever changed in knowing you, and we’ll not ever forget you.
My deepest condolences to the entire Santos family and all of Jack’s friends. We are all the luckiest people to have been touched by Joaquin in the time that he was here with us.
February 6, 2007
Some people come into our lives, and quietly go...Others stay awhile, and leave footprints on our hearts...And we are never the same...Joaquin left Big footprint's in our lives as Police Officer's and on his "FAMILY". He will do the same in Heaven. May God Bless You All and hold you in the palm of his hands!

Joaq, is what my brother Chris called you. He loved you like the brother he never had. With caring Thoughts and Prayers.. What matters most is not how long a star shines, but the brightness of its light..You Joaquin were truly a bright light.. Love Chris, Erin and Lisa Kelly.
Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight...must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light.
We know that like a glowing star, their lovely light will shine to brighten up another place more perfect..more divine.

Joaq, you were my rock. You once said, "God must really love me to have put you in my life." You had it backwards. I'm the lucky one. I was the one blessed to have had 22 years with a friend like you. I love you and I will miss you forever. Rest in peace and I'll see you in my dreams.

I am overwhelmed and shocked to hear such sad news. To you, to your family and to your friends, I will long for the day when Jehovah whispers to you "Wake up". ".... "The hour
is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear [Jesus'] voice and come out." (John 5:28, 29) ....those in Jehovah's memory will be resurrected, or brought back to life. ....those who have pursued a righteous course as Jehovah's servants. ....other people have died without showing whether they would comply with God's righteous standards. Either they did not know about Jehovah's requirements or they lacked sufficient time to make needed changes. Individuals of this sort are also in God's memory and will be resurrected, for the Bible says: "There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."—Acts 24:15."
I will see you, Joaquin, along with other loved ones who have passed. On that day or die trying.

Dear Family and Friends of Jack,
It was my pleasure to defend Jack in a bogus lawsuit arising out of his duties as a SFPD officer. After the jury returned a unanimous verdict in his favor, one juror lingered in the hallway of the court house long enough to thank him on behalf of all the jurors for his service as a police officer. Big tough Jack's eyes welled with tears because it meant a great deal to him to know that these twelve citizens appreciated his hard work. When I first met Jack, he was my client. Long after the trial ended, he remained my friend.

To the entire Santos family,
Please accept my condolences and deepest sympathy on the passing of this fine young man, veteran and police officer. Jack Sr. was the best supervisor and boss I have ever had the pleasure of working for in the SFPD. May the grace of God provide you comfort in knowing Joaquin has experienced the warm embrace of Jesus Christ.

To the Santos Family,
I met young Jack on several occassions when I worked for his Father at the Hall of Justice.
Young Jack was also an officer when my husband was a Sergeant at Co. E.I knew he was quite a character.
My thoughts are with all of you. I think my husband who also recently passed away is already looking after him. Another great warrior now working for St. Michael..
God Bless you all...

My Dearest Lorena, Jack, Erik and Michelle. As Carlos mentioned we have just learned of Joaquin's passing. You are the most wonderful, caring people in the world so it seems unfair you should be asked to bear this. I pray God gives you solace soon. My heart is heavy but so many memories of Joaquin come flooding back, like the basketball game, where by age 12 he was a good 10 inches taller than his peers, and an opposing player dropped the ball, and he looked around to see if anyone would yell at him for taking the ball from the "little kid". What a beautiful, gentle giant he was and a son any parent would be proud to have. You are in my every thought and prayer. With unending love.

Dear Santos Family,
Please know that my heart is with you during this time. Although it has been so many years, some of my fondest and most cherished childhood memories are connected to the love and kindness I received from your Family. As I heard the news this morning, it seemed like yesterday that we were all together at the house in Novato. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
In rememberance of Joaquin, con todo mi corazon...

Dearest Santos Family,
I came upon the news about Joaquin by chance while reading the paper yesterday. I now sit here truly devasted. When I was 10, I considered Joaq my best friend and Jack and Lorena my second parents. There were many days spent on little league fields and walking on fire trails to get to his house at the top of the hill in Novato. When my folks split up, the Santos' took my mother, brother, sister and I into their home until my mother could get back up on her feet. This the kind of people the Santos' are. This was an act of compassion that has stayed with me these many years later. For that, I am eternally grateful to you.
I wish for you, the Santos family, strength in this difficult time and I also return to you the love you have shown my family in the past.
With a very heavy heart, I offer you my condolences.

Dear Maddy;
A poem just for you!
Tears of sadness can blind us. So that a bend in the road - Like a loss of a Daddy seems like the end of the road. But through our tears of love. God lets us see His Son welcoming to Heaven our dear departed one. With Christ they're not alone. Death's just a bend in the road that leads God's children home.

I am sad beyond words at this loss. I met Joaquin in 7th grade and have never forgotten how kind and funny he was to this shy kid. We ran into each other on my few trips to Disneyland and he always joked about when 'we' were going back. I am thankful beyond words I was able to spend some time with him at our 20th reunion last year. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

To all family and friends of Jack's. I can't say how sorry I am for your loss. I started riding with Jack and the boys about 11 years ago. He was so totally full of life, really amusing and occasionally showed that sweet side (even with the guys around:) I will miss that grin and watching him go screaming off on his "bike of the day" in his tennies. My heart is with all of you even if I'm not. Sincerely, Carol

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room - why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little - but not too long and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we once shared. Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me, but let me go.
We LOVE you "Joaq" - your cousin Carla
