Joe Ranieri Obituary

Joe Ranieri

Joe Ranieri was born December 28, 1936 in Chicago Heights, Illinois and died on October 8, 2017 in Chico, California. He moved, with his family, to San Francisco, California in 1943. The journey was by Pullman railroad car filled with military personnel.

Joe was raised in San Francisco and graduated from Riordan High School in 1955. He also attended San Francisco City College and San Francisco State College. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

In 1960, Joe became a stock broker with the prestigious Sutro & Co. in San Francisco. In 1974, Joe and wife Joan and three children left the "City by the Bay", moving to Oroville, California "The City of Gold". He worked as a stock broker manager for Birr-Wilson & Co. until 1989 when he stepped out on his own as an independent contractor with Raymond James Financial Services.

Joe was deservedly proud of his career accomplishments, his family and his much loved grandchildren as well as lifelong friends dating back to elementary school. He enjoyed cooking and was a fan of the Giants and Warriors.

He was predeceased by parents Victor and Edith Ranieri, brother Daniel and his infant son Daniel Joseph. He is survived by loving wife Lydia, his children Daniel and Victoria (Kelly) Ranieri and Elizabeth (Grant) Hermann and beloved grandchildren Chloe and Aiden Hermann.

He is also survived by stepsons Edward and Kurt Hamlin, and step grandchildren Dana, Jamie, John and Leo, numerous great grandchildren, and by his sister Elaine and Michael Robinson and their family.

Joe requested memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I think of him often. I met Joe as part of his healthcare team and was blessed to be able to assist him and Lydia during some tough times. Joe always had a great story to tell me and his smile could life up any room. He is deeply missed. As he would often say I know where I'm going his faith being strong. We will meet again my friend in a better place.

To the most wonderful boss I ever had in my career when I worked for him at Birr Wilson in Oroville, Ca. for 8 years. We remained friends after I moved away to Oregon. My husband and I would always stop in Oroville on a trip to Calif. to see him. Always loved his cooking and sense of humor. Still remember when he first met Lydia and how smitten he was. She is such a beautiful lady. My heart goes out to her. I just now found about about his passing.

I worked with Joe for several years in Oroville as a broker and immensely enjoyed his rare sense of humor and insight. My family was also blessed by having him, his wife Joan and children as our neighbors. He was a good person and is missed.

JOE WAS ONE OF MY VERY BEST FRIENDS. I HAD KNOWN HIM FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS. HE WAS QUICK WITTED, LOVED TO TELL JOKES AND WAS KNOWN WIDELY BY FRIENDS, ACQUAITENCES AND OTHERS IN THE COMMUNITY. HE LOVED LIFE, ENJOYED TELLING STORIES AND WAS ALWAYS VERY PROFESSIONAL IN HIS CAPACITY AS A STOCK BROKER. MY DAUGHTERS GINA AND LAURA ADMIRED HIM GREATLY. HE LOVED TO TALK ABOUT GOOD FOOD ESPECIALLY ITALIAN DISHES. I WILL MISS HIM GREATLY
