John Cahill Obituary

John H. Cahill

John H. Cahill passed away on April 4, 2021 in St. Augustine, FL. less than a year after his beloved wife, Ruth Benziger Cahill.
John was born to Frank & "Tommy" Cahill and grew up in East Aurora, NY with his brothers Doran "Montana"(decd. 2020), Jim "Slater". He attended Bishop Timon High School '64, was drafted into the US Army, and graduated from The University of Vermont '74.
He spent his life working outside doing landscape construction & design The common thread among his projects being usually difficult which others often avoided. John "got it done." His intelligence and mischievous streak were the best combination for great times and pranks. He made many life-long friends through his love of live music. He will be sorely missed by all who were ever regaled by his tale told as only Johnny could tell a story.
John is survived by his children, Chloe Cahill Durant, David Stier and Sarah Stier, Jonathan Burke, 6 grandchildren, his brother Slater and his many, many friends.
John's ashes will be spread over Lake Champlain, along with his wife's, on July 5th. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at Basin Harbor Club, Vergennes, VT from 3-5:30pm.

Terri and I are so sorry to hear of John’s passing. We had not seen John in years, but have great memories of him and his wife Ruth from years ago. He was one of the good guys I crossed paths with in Vermont.
Rest easy, John.
