John Tusch Obituary
04/22/1942 - 04/15/2024
John L. Tusch – Passed away peacefully in San Francisco, Calif., on April 15, 2024. Dear son of the late John and Margaret Tusch; loving brother of late Carolynn M. Tusch; and loving animal parent of late Duncan and Maria. A graduate of St. Emydius Grammar School, Archbishop Riordan High School, Class of 1960; a native of San Francisco; an avid aesthete; and devout Catholic, age 81. He retired after a long career with the City and County of San Francisco. Those who knew John will remember his passion for animals, art history, and his faith. His love for learning new things never stopped. This was demonstrated by him attending San Francisco City College well into his 70s, even learning German. John's absence will be deeply felt by the San Francisco community he so cherished.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Vigil Service Thursday, April 25, at 4:00 p.m., and Funeral Mass Friday, April 26, 12:00 p.m., both at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2390 Bush St., San Francisco, Calif. 94115. Committal Service to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Mission Road, El Camino Real Colma, Calif. 94014.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to San Francisco SPCA, a cause John cared deeply about.

I will always remember John with a book in his hand and a little dog at his feet. He was a quiet, studious man and devout Catholic who remained true to his faith, dedicated recognized as a 3rd order Carmelite.
Rest in peace, dearest John. I pray you have reunited with your beloved family, including sweet Duncan and Maria.
