John Theodore "Ted" Williams

John Theodore "Ted" Williams, 62, died after a long battle with cancer, on Aug. 19, 2014 in Oakland, Calif. He was born Oct. 21, 1951 in Ft. Worth, Tex. to Betty Jean and Danny Williams. He was the beloved husband of Sue Stein and the loving father of Noah Williams, both of Oakland. Williams was a graphic designer, photographer, bicycle and motorcycle enthusiast and an all-around great guy. He lived in Oakland for the past 24 years.
His father, Danny Williams, his mother, Betty Jean Barber, his stepbrother, Michael Barber, and his uncle, Boston Red Sox great Ted Williams, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Stein, of Oakland; his son, Noah Williams, of Oakland; his sisters; Karma Arnold, of Tujunga, Calif. and Pat Barber, of San Gabriel, Calif; brothers Dan Williams, of Wildomar, Calif., Sam Williams, of Susanville, Calif. and Jerry Norris, of Susanville, Calif.; and step-father, Dave Barber, of San Gabriel, Calif.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ted's life at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to, to the charity of your choice.

Ted's friends at the Rockridge Fellowship have made a contribution in his memory to the American Cancer Society. His inspiration to all of us will be greatly missed.
