Joseph McMillen Mitchell

MITCHELL, Joseph McMillen - Age 89, entered into rest July 29, 2005 in SF. Born in Chillicothe, MO, April 19, 1916, he was a resident of San Francisco. On September 3, 1933 Joe married Edna Bollinger and in 1935 they moved to San Francisco from Independence, MO. Following Edna's death Joe married Rose Marie Gibbs, June 18, 2005. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, an avid hunter, target shooter and outdoorsman. Joe was a past president of the San Francisco Rod & Gun Club; as well as a member of the Pacific Rod & Gun Club, the Safari Club and Chabot Shooting Club. He also was a model railroad enthusiast, and a member of several local model railroad clubs and associations. Joe is survived by his wife, Rose Mitchell of San Francisco; his children, Erlene Bennett of San Francisco, Joseph McMillen Mitchell, Jr. of South San Francisco, Robert Mitchell and wife, Karlyn of Rocklin, Sandra Cook and husband, Robert of Bothell, WA, and Helen Cox of Livermore. 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive him. Friends are invited to visit Wednesday, August 3 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the chapels of ARTHUR J. SULLIVAN & CO., 2254 Market Street btwn. 15th and 16th Sts., where they may also attend a Funeral Service, Thursday, August 4, at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations may be made in Joe's name to The American Heart Association or your charity of choice.
