Juanita Rood Obituary

Juanita Gomez Rood
September 27, 1930 - February 24, 2024
Departed peacefully on February 24, 2024, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Harold William "Bill" Rood and loving mother of Hilary and Elizabeth and loving gramma to her grandson, Marius.
Juanita was a 4th generation Californian, born in Wheatland, Calif. She attended U.C. Berkeley, where she studied Art History and received a teaching credential. She was executive assistant, to the president of Stanford University. That association led her to open her first restaurant, the Soup Kettle, at Stanford Shopping Center. After selling her third restaurant, she embarked on her lifelong dream. She relocated to Florence, Italy, where she studied painting and Italian. Her retirement was spent renovating her house in Manchester, Calif., playing bridge, and raising chickens to sell their eggs.
Friends and family may reach out to her daughters, Hilary and Elizabeth for information on a planned Celebration of Life.
