Katherine Ann Eterovich

July 30, 1924 - June 4, 2014

Katie Eterovich passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 4th, at the age of 89. She was the middle child of Ivan and Ana Eterovich, whom had immigrated to San Francisco from Brac, Croatia. Born and raised in the Excelsior District of San Francisco, along with Winnie, John, Frances, and Adam, Katie was a force to be reckoned with. She loved life, and enjoyed many friends whom sought out her company. She graduated from Balboa High in the class of 1942 and was one of the Balboa Dolls whom celebrated lunches and get-togethers for almost 6 decades. She had impeccable taste, a designer's eye and flair, and loved to have a good time with family and friends.

She married Pete Biocini Sr. after World War II, moved to Redwood City, CA and they had five children from 1949 to 1959, John, George, Peter Jr., Rodney, and Ann. Divorced in 1962, she went on to Heald Business College to help support the family. She was active in Parents Without Partners organization and had as active a social life as possible as a single parent with five kids under the age 13. She was always positive and tried to find the good in everybody. She taught us many lessons in moderation and instilled confidence in all her children.

In 1969, she married Stanford V. Burberick and moved to her present home in Los Altos. She was a remarkable asset to Stan in his investment business, hosting many get-togethers and also involved in the Republican Women's Group. Stan and Katie traveled to Africa, London, Hawaii, and Europe, and she enjoyed these years of her life immensely.

Divorced in 1981, Katie's focus turned to being a Grandma extraordinaire and she always celebrated her six grandchildren's birthday by taking them out individually for their special day, just with Grandma. In early 1982 she also enjoyed a wonderful trip to Brac and Zagreb, Croatia, with her brother Adam and his wife, Danica. She was like a kid in a candy store enjoying the homeland of her parents.

In 1992, Mom married the widower Cyrus Goldman and these two were made for each other. They were like the King and his Queen. They both enjoyed the good life and enjoyed many friendships in Hillsborough and Los Altos.

Katie's effervescent personality was dealt a tough hand over the last decade of her life as she lived with the onset of Alzheimer's disease. We all choose to remember the timeless, beautiful, caring woman we called Mom, Grandma, Sister, and Auntie. You will be missed and we are glad you are now at peace in heaven.

Katie is survived by her Daughter, Ann Sullivan, Sons, John, George, Peter and Rodney Biocini, Son-in-law, Eric Anderson, and Daughter-in-law, Tricia Biocini. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Danny, Kevin, Michelle, and Peter Biocini, and Brad and Katie Sullivan. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Katie also leaves behind her sister, Winnie Biocini, Sister Frances Bulanti, and Brother-in-law, Charlie Bulanti, brother John Eterovich and Sister-in-law Danica Eterovich.

Our family's special thanks go to our Mom's guardian angel for the past decade, Nettie Melara, whom became part of our family and loved Mom like a second Daughter.

We invite friends and family to a memorial mass that will be held this coming Saturday, June 14th, at 2pm at St. Simon's Catholic Church, located at 1860 Grant Road, Los Altos, California. Followed by a celebration of Katie's life at her home in Los Altos, CA.
