Keith Benjamin Obituary

Keith E. Benjamin 49, died unexpectedly of a subdural hematoma on July 29. Born in New York City on April 7, 1959, Keith was a partner with Levensohn Venture Partners. He is survived by his beloved family: his wife Nancy Wind Benjamin; son, Bruce Wind; daughter, Peri Evelyn; and their pet, "Ro." He will also be deeply missed by his sister Bonnie Benjamin-Phariss, brother-in-law Scott, and their children Kelsey and Jackson. Keith joins his parents, Audrey and Bruce Benjamin, who preceded him in death. Keith was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed challenging himself physically. Among his accomplishments were finishes in several marathons and climbing Mts. Ranier and Shasta as well as a number of unnamed Alaskan peaks. Hiking the John Muir Trail and an annual run with friends to Stinson Beach were eagerly pursued activities. Always trying new things, he loved boxing and surfing. He particularly enjoyed time with family and many dear friends. Keith had a unique sense of humor that often invited a kick under the table from his wife. A chartered financial analyst, Keith was third generation Wall Street, following both his father and grandfather into the investment world. He earned a B.S. in economics and management and an M.B.A. from New York University. Prior to his employment with Levensohn, he was a general partner with Highland Capital Partners, a Boston-based venture firm. From 1993 to 1999, he was a senior research analyst with Robertson Stephens where he followed a broad range of companies exploring the then new technologies, including education and entertainment software, internet, e-commerce and enterprise software. A Memorial service is planned for noon Sunday, August 3, at Cavallo Point in Sausalito. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Keith's memory to either the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy or San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, specifying Trauma Unit. The conservancy can be reached through Audrey L. Yee, associate director of development at (415)561-3030, ext. 2233 or [email protected]; the hospital foundation contact is (415)206-5930 or www.sfghf.net.
