Kenneth Leroy Campbell

Kenneth Leroy Campbell, age 93, of Foster City, California, passed away peacefully, remembered for his incredible strength, profound work ethic, and dedication to his family and students.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Peter and Louise Campbell, Kenneth carried the resilience of his upbringing throughout his long and impactful life.
Kenneth was a proud Korean War Veteran, serving his country with distinction as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division. His bravery and service were recognized with numerous honors, including the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the UN Service Medal, the Korean PUC, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Kenneth embodied the courage and duty of a true Marine.
Following his military service, Kenneth dedicated himself to education. He earned his degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and went on to share his passion for language as a highly respected Professor of English as a Second Language.
Kenneth loved teaching English as a second language to students from all over the world, finding immense satisfaction in helping people build new lives. He taught countless students at esteemed institutions, including Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and St. Patrick's Seminary and was honored with the Employee and Educator of the Year at Mills College for his work in the ELS Education Program.
Kenneth's greatest love was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosalinda Campbell; and his devoted children: Elayna Campbell-Dillard, Kim Hartwig, and Dean Hartwig. He was a cherished father-in-law to Zach Pilkerton and Joseph Dillard; and a proud grandfather to: Kevon Hartwig, Brandon Hartwig, Dean Hartwig Jr., and Alyssa Hartwig. He is also survived by his dear sister, Anita Mihail. Kenneth's strength and love created a beautiful legacy that will continue to inspire his family.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 29th, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, 1500 Mission Rd., Colma.
