Kevin Casey Obituary

Kevin Casey
July 28, 1961 - March 13, 2022
We mournfully announce the passing of Kevin Casey, 60, of Rancho Mirage, California on Sunday March 13, 2022.
Kevin was the second of four children born to Michael and Annette Casey on July 28, 1961. Kevin grew up in Hillsborough and graduated from Menlo School in 1979. He graduated with a degree in Communications at University of the Pacific and later studied at the California Professional Music Business Academy. Kevin left the San Francisco Bay Area in 2017 and moved to Palm Springs to enjoy the warmer weather and more relaxing lifestyle that the Desert offers.
Kevin's passion in life was music. A talented singer and songwriter, he recorded several albums and frequented many venues with his bands Transcendence, Free Press, Wild for Kate, RubberSideDown, and most recently, the Desert Rockets. Kevin was notably proud to sing lead for Ronnie Montrose in 2011. In between gigs, he extended his talents to freelance as an audio engineer, video producer, and real estate photographer.
Those who knew Kevin know his love for music was second only to the love for his daughters Alanna and Colleen, born in the early 1990s with his first wife Melissa. Kevin spoke of his pride and excitement for his children to anyone with an ear. A true expert at making memories, Kevin would take the girls to concerts or trips to share the passion for music as a family. Each excursion always ended with spirited talks about movies, politics, school, or whatever else came to mind. He also loved to work a puzzle on the deck in Carmel-by-the-Sea listening to all of his favorite albums with his family. Kevin was elated to continue the traditions he'd started with his daughters when his first granddaughter Addelyn was born, including the mantle of 'Papa'.
When Kevin wasn't at the mic with his guitar or adventuring with his family, he enjoyed traveling and exploring nightlife in San Francisco and beyond with his second wife Jocelyn and their countless groups of friends. As much as he was the life of the party, he also loved to cook and always created new recipes. He cooked and sang the same as he lived: from his heart and with his soul. Everyone in his life is devastated to lose his creativity, his sensitivity, his passion for life, and love for his family.
Kevin is predeceased by his father Michael and step-father Joe. He is survived by his mother Annette and stepmother Lucia (Lucy); his siblings Michelle and her husband Will, Dennis and his wife Morgan, Corinne (Cori) and her husband Paul, and Charles; his children Alanna and her husband Chris, Colleen and her partner Christian; his grandchildren Addelyn and Cayden; his former wife and mother of his children Melissa; and his former wife Jocelyn.
We would like to thank and acknowledge everyone that Kevin met in his journey through AA. Your support and friendship meant so much to him and his family.
Services are being planned and we will share details when we have more information. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kevin's name to Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.

I was Kevin´s roommate senior year of college. I remember an acquaintance asking what Kevin had been listening to on the radio as he drove by in his 240z belting out a song with the windows closed. Kevin said his radio was broken. He´d just been singing out loud to himself as he drove. Kevin loved music. So sorry to here of his passing.
