Kevin Gleason Obituary

Kevin Gleason Died peacefully on December 26 2010 in Berkeley CA after a two-year struggle with cancer. He was born in Brooklyn NY on November 1 1940. Despite relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area in his thirties, he remained an avowed New Yorker. Talented as a cartoonist and photographer, Kevin was accepted into the High School of Industrial Arts in Manhattan. He attended Brooklyn College and graduated from UC Berkeley. He then returned to New York and started his career as a technical writer and editor for Random House and Columbia University Press. In the early 1970's he returned to the Bay Area where he worked as a technical editor for Wadsworth Publishing, Canfield Press, W.H. Freeman, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and other publishing venues. Kevin's greatest passions were his family and friends, conversation, photography, the English language, books, and automobile racing. He was a man possessed of supreme intelligence, creativity, generosity and integrity, as well as a brilliant and biting wit. Kevin is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Nancy Aden-Gleason, and their children, Flynn and Caitlin Gleason, his first wife, Nola Zibaroff, their daughter Morgan Gleason-Fenton, and his sister, Suzanne Gleason Davis. His parents, James Francis Gleason and Helen Ramirez predeceased him. He is loved and will be greatly missed by all those fortunate enough to be touched by him. A private memorial gathering will be held in his honor.

I love you Dad,
Your memory is honored and cherished by so many people. I wouldn't change anything about your service, the words of respect that came from people, your friends, your family and your loved ones. When they spoke about you, I could only tell what a positive impact and influence that you had in everyone's lives. You were very special to so many of us and you will be greatly missed.
