Lawrence Piatti Obituary

Lawrence (Larry)
Anthony Piatti

Died unexpectedly while on a fly fishing trip on Friday, November 1, 2013. Larry was the oldest of six children born to Carolyn and Arnold Piatti in San Francisco, California in 1952. He attended local schools and graduated from Marin Catholic High School. After graduating, Larry served as an Intern for US Congressman William S. Mailliard in Washington DC. He attended University of San Francisco and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.

Larry joined Carter Hawley Hale Stores for the start of his career. After a few years he entered media sales where he enjoyed great success with several broadcasting companies, including KSFO, KGO, KNEW, Major Market Radio, KRON and Comcast. Larry was admired and respected throughout the media industry.

Larry's love for the outdoors was reflected in his passion for fly fishing, hiking, gardening and photography. Larry was very involved in his local community as a member of the Marin County Rotary Club. He was a Vice Commodore of the Richardson Bay Yacht Club and involved in the Marin Catholic Alumnae Association. Larry also was a member of the Mt. Diablo, Golden Gate and Mt. Tamalpais Fly Fishing Clubs.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Sue, his parents Arnold and Carolyn Piatti, and his siblings, Victoria Piatti-Moore, Mark Piatti, Michele Piatti, Laura Piatti-Powell, and Mary Maciel in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was a devoted husband, son, brother and uncle to his family.

His family and friends will miss Larry's enthusiasm for life and enormous presence.

A mass in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at St. Sebastian the Martyr Catholic Church in Kentfield at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Tiburon Salmon Institute (www.tiburonsalmoninstitute.org) and the American Heart Association.

We will all miss Larry so much. So many Saturdays sitting on our couch, watching Irish football, or calling and texting my husband during games, a fellow Domer. But always stood up for my USF side when we talked colleges. Thank you Larry so much for being our friend. So lucky we got to know you.

I knew Larry from the advertising business. He called on me during his sales career and was nothing but a gentleman of the old school. We had some fun times. My thoughts are with the entire Piatti family.

Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of a great guy. I fondly remember our near-daily lunch escapes from the ever-tightening Comcast electronic leash. No surprise he was Fly-Fishing! My condolences to family & friends.

God grant that I may live to fish -
Until my dying day-
And when it comes to my last cast -
I then most humbly pray -
When in the Lord's safe landing net -
I'm peacefully asleep
That in his mercy I be judged - As good enough to keep”
God Bless you Larry from a fellow fly fishermen
