Lenna Hopper Obituary

Lenna Hopper

April 18, 1933 – September 4, 2017

Lenna died peacefully in her sleep at her home in San Francisco, California, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 84. She was born in Denver, Colorado. She moved from London to the Bay Area in 1978 where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Lenna had a dynamic spirit and radiant smile that made her loved by all everywhere she went and by people of all ages and cultures. She firmly believed in God's plan and moved to the next journey with the same joy she carried through life. Lenna had an abundance of energy, charm, and charisma, combined with a piercing intellect and endless curiosity. She was a fierce advocate for freedom of speech, courtesy, civility, and a champion for social justice. She rebelled against conformity, authority, and boredom. She was a cosmopolitan, global citizen, and one of the original foodies before "foodie" was ever a thing. Lenna had an outsized personality, and made a powerful and lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She sparkled. She was beautiful. She was a lot of fun. Lenna's exemplary life goal was to never stop evolving. She was a Lady. May her graceful spirit soar with the Infinite.

She enjoyed hiking, cooking, driving, bridge, travel, dance, movies, music, art and literature, but mostly spending time with family and friends. Lenna volunteered at Martin De Porres in San Francisco from 1985 to 1990, providing dignified food to the poor and she was a Big Sister from 2004 to 2012, providing guidance to troubled girls.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bob Hopper, of San Francisco, California. The Lenna and Bob love story is one of the great love stories of our time. Surviving family members also include: sister, Reldia Burch; son, Bryan Jones and his wife, Wenjuan; daughter, Karen Jones; 4 grandchildren, Brad Jones, Erin Fey Carroll, Kristopher and Sophia Menos; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson Fielder and James Carroll.

lenna was the best. I am a better person because of the time over the years I spent with Bob and Lenna. A true beautiful soul who never said anything negative about anybody and offered herself to others who were less fortunate a better opportunity.
