November 24, 1941 - August 27, 2016Linda Lowry Newsom, 74, of San Francisco, CA, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Greenwich, CT on August 27. Born in Medford, OR in 1941, Linda attended Medford High School and the University of Oregon. A lover of theater and the arts, Linda was a stage and film actress who appeared in numerous productions in Nevada, California, New York, Maine and Connecticut. She was a world traveler who spoke four languages and made friends everywhere she visited. She was a member of SAG/AFTRA, Actors Equity, The National Arts Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. As a protege and torchbearer of Robert "Bobby" Lewis, she ultimately channeled her gift into teaching, where her passion and mastery inspired legions of devoted students. In her classes she shared a fierce dedication to her craft as well as a total commitment to the "work." She was preceded in death by her parents Neva Wall and Burton Lowry and her brother Douglas Lowry. Linda is survived by her daughter, Martha Stabler, and her husband, Peter, and grandchildren, Emily and Timothy as well as her sister, Bonnie Lowry, and brother, Burton Lowry. Although she resided in the Bay Area, she spent many happy years on the East Coast, living for a time in Greenwich, and reveled in her long- time friendships there. Linda was a vibrant, glamorous, creative force whose joie de vivre and generous, caring spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her. A memorial service celebrating Linda's life will be held on Nov. 23, at 11 a.m, at Christ Church Greenwich, 254 East Putnam. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Actors Fund or Cathedral School for Boys in San Francisco.
