LISE SONNEN Obituary

Lise Sonnen Passed away with her two daughters, Susanne Lamelza and Charlotte Vogt, by her side, in her Sonoma home, on May 5, 2012. Lise was an established, and successful business woman, the owner of Sonnen BMW, located in San Rafael CA, for almost 40 years, delving into other successful business ventures along the way. She had a natural born business tenacity from very early on, being the first female owner, and operator, at the age of 19, of an International Travel Agency, in Copenhagen, Denmark, the place of her birth. After much travel, success and college, Lise moved to Marin County, CA when she was 24, and started on a life's journey which would become more than just a legacy. Lise was loved by all who knew her. She was kind, gracious and if you were lucky enough to hear one of her speeches, you would have laughed from beginning to end, as she had an incredible sense of humor. Something that was so very important to Lise, and a huge part of her life, was what she liked to call "giving back to the community". Her generosity, which was the blood that pumped through her heart, came in many forms; the valuable gift of time, sitting on many boards to endless charity functions. Her memberships in the many Chambers of Commerce and her dedication to different Rotary Clubs were significant. You name it, she was "the one" to complete any and all tasks to better the world. There are so many organizations that she was involved in, far too many to mention here. So to share a few: "Guide Dogs for the Blind", "Special Olympics", "Charter School of Sonoma", "The Divas". And oh yes!, "The Boys and Girls Club" . For Lise this was about giving children possibilities that could change their lives forever, she was so very passionate about this. Lise had a huge love of animals and they all loved her back, she had always talked about opening a ranch for dogs that needed a home and love. Her beloved Goldens "Lulu" and "Baby" never left her side and gave her much comfort and joy. Her awards were numerous and she appreciated each and every one of them more than anyone could ever have guessed, but being modest, she always thought that someone else deserved it more. In the end she was voted the "Sweetheart" to the Boys and Girls club for 2012, which touched her in the deepest way. She will be sorely missed in every way. But will live on forever, as she touched countless hearts every single day. Lise is survived by; her two daughters, Susanne Lamelza and Charlotte Vogt, step and spirit daughter Michelle Fliegauf, daughter in heart Amy Hutchinson, the son "I never had" in law, Allan Vogt, her grand daughters and step- grandson; Sarah Prinzlau, Emily Lamelza, Lilly Lamelza, Sophia Vogt and Arlo Fliegauf, and 2 great grandchildren; Elli and DJ Heffelfinger, as well as her sister Nina Orntoft, who resides in Denmark. We have decided, as a family, to, at this time, have a private "Celebration of her Life", we know you understand, in this hardest of times. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, each one makes a difference. Please light a candle and have a glass of wine in her memory, she would have liked that. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to "The Boys and Girls Club" or "Pets Life Line" both located in Sonoma, CA. We love you Mom. Duggan's Mission Chapel 525 West Napa St., Sonoma, CA 95476

Charlotte & Allan,

It was with much sadness that I learned today of Lise's passing. She was a wonderful and considerate person who was much more than a business associate. Her friendship is something Gail and I will always cherish.

It is often said that a person'e life can be best measured by the good one does for others. By that measure Lise's life was nothing but an unqualified success.

We are grateful for having had the opportunity to know her.

With deepest sympathy,

Bob & Gail Devine

Mange kærlige tanker og knus to you Susanne, Charlotte and Family,

Our families immigrated from Denmark to the US together in 1965... many wonderful memories of us girls together from that time. My deepest condolences to you all during this heavy time of loss. I can see Lise's smile before me now, she was a beauty!

Dear Charlotte and Susanne:
I first met your mother when buying a BMW from Henricke while the dealership was still on Miller Avenue in the mid-80s. Lise impressed me then, but my true appreciation of her came during our extended tenure on the Marin Special Olympics Board. Lise's caring, can-do, inspiring ways...which never waivered in the face of a challenge, so endeared her to me. And oh, how I loved to make her laugh...it still rings in my ears. Over the years, when we would bump into each other, she always gave me a big hug with that devilish glint in her eye.
I am honored to have known her, and called her a friend. I will keep you both in my prayers to get through this difficult time.

My beloved sister, Lise
You will always be a part of my thoughts and my life.
From our earliest common childhood in Copenhagen, Denmark, we had each other's friendship and sisterhood, which remained the best in our adult lives, - where you were always there when it came to a shielding hand and care.
Nothing will ever be the same...
Thank you for being the most precious, loving and caring sister.
My love will always follow you on the path to the next dimension ....

I will forever be grateful that I had you as my Mom. You were elegant, beautiful, generous, loving and a wonderful person. You made life so much fun and we did so many neat things together. You always made me feel so loved. You were so strong with your fight against cancer you never gave up, you cherished every minute of life and now I am doing the same. You taught me to be strong, family values, about business, morals and to always think of others. I cherished the close relationship we had together. I felt really lucky to be able to spend the last 2 years living with you and taking care of you, it truly was a blessing. I miss you terribly and my heart feels broken now, but I know you would want me to stay strong so I am trying my best.I am relieved that you are out of pain and that you will suffer no more. The gates of heaven opened for you and you were runited with your lost love Elmar, your best friend Jody Alward, your grandmother, our Uncle Marty Cohn all your lost friends and beloved dogs. I will never forget you and love you forever. Thanks for being the best mom a girl could have. Please help me and watch over me from heaven I need your help to get through this incredible loss.
