Lorraine Howell
Lorraine Vistica Howell Passed away at home after a short battle with cancer on March 20th, 2010. Born and reared in Hillsborough and San Mateo, CA. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Belmont and a 1951 graduate of Dominican College in San Rafael, CA. Lorraine was a born teacher as she taught in both the San Mateo and Hillsborough Elementary School Districts. She also taught adult non readers at San Mateo Public Library and tutored dyslexic children in her own home. Lorraine was the President of the Mother's Club at Serra High School from 1970-1974. Mr. & Mrs. Howell were co-president of the Midshipman's Parents Club for the United States Naval Academy from 1974-1978. Lorraine was a longtime member of The Coyote Point Junior Museum Auxiliary and served as president for one year. Well known for her love of the ballet and opera, Lorraine served on the Auxiliary for the San Francisco Ballet and Opera for many years. Though all of her volunteer efforts, Lorraine was known as a inspired leader, a tremendous organizer, a tireless worker and a very successful fund raiser. Lorraine is survived by her husband James of almost 55 years and one son Stephen Howell of Atlanta, GA. Her quick wit and big smile will be missed by all of her family and friends.
