Margarita Alcazar Obituary

Margarita Marta Alcazar

Margarita Marta Alcazar, 89, better known as Marta, died peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joaquin; her parents, Margarita and Ramon; her brother, Carlos; sisters: Elena, Virginia, Gloria and Flora; and also also by the nephews that loved her: Alfredo and Juan R.

She is survived by her sisters: Clara, Eugenia Mimi and Ana Cuquita. She will be sorely missed by her nephews, Angelo and Miguel (Beti); her nieces, Margarita E. and Margarita C. (Henry); also her niece-in-law, Jule, Alfredo's wife. Many grand nephews and grand nieces, along with great-grand nephews and great-grand nieces will also miss her. Several friends adopted as family members will mourn her passing.

Marta earned a Doctorate in Education at the University of Havana, Cuba. However, instead of going to teach higher classes, she chose to stay with her beloved third and fourth graders where she taught for about thirty years. Eventually she had to leave Cuba for political reasons and came to reside in San Francisco where she lived with her sisters for another thirty years.
