Marie Angela Lucia

Marie Lucia, beloved wife, mother and Nana passed away on April 22, 2018, after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband Rockne A. Lucia, daughter Mary Anne McCarthy, sons Rockne, John and Dominic. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emily Pilloni, father, John Paternoster and brothers John and Rocco Paternoster.
Born in Melrose Park, Illinois, Marie attended Polytechnic High School in San Francisco. Marie met her husband Rocky in 1951 and they were married in 1955 after Rocky served two years in the Army during the Korean War.
After spending many years raising her children, Marie became a successful senior housing administrator/executive in San Francisco. Her quick wit, humility and compassion for the elderly, enhanced the lives of hundreds of seniors who resided in urban housing units that she managed.
Marie derived immense pleasure and satisfaction caring for and attending to her children. Her life was centered on her family and she was unrelenting in her devotion to her children, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In return, Marie inspired great love and devotion.
Marie was a friend and lifelong companion to her husband Rocky. She will be sorely missed by those who called her Nana, Mom, and Honey.
Marie's life will be celebrated at a Mass on Thursday, April 26th at 11:00 at the Star of the Valley Roman Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or Catholic Charities.
