Marijuel D. Borges
Nov. 24, 1926 - Nov. 28, 2021
Our Mom, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Marijuel D. Borges, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2021 four days after her 95th birthday. She was born November 24, 1926 in Sacramento, California and lived in Oakland, Santa Clara, San Bruno, South San Francisco, Sonora, Walnut Creek and finally in Reno, Nevada for the last 12 years. Although Mom was very independent and lived on her own, she enjoyed having family, friends and her wonderful neighbors nearby.

Marijuel worked for Bank of America from 1957 to 1987, first as a teller, then as an Operations Officer, then SF Employment Office Manager, Data Processing Manager and finally as Manager of Retirement Programs. She was always very active in her local Catholic Church parishes. She played the organ at Mater Dolorosa in SSF when we were young and loved working in the offices at St. Patrick's in Sonora and St. Francis of Assisi in Concord after she retired from BofA. She was in the choir and still helping out at St. Rose of Lima in Reno for the last 10 years.

Raising her kids as a single parent was not easy, but Mom always showed us that perseverance and a good casserole would probably get you through. Marijuel is survived by two sons, Joseph (Karen) and Martin (Jaci). She was also Mother to two daughters, Martha and Cecilia (Kevin), who predeceased her, Grandmother to Michael, Jennifer (deceased), Matthew and Caroline, Ryan, Erin and Lauren, and Great-Grandmother to Gavin and Colby. As per her request, there will be no formal services, however a mass will be celebrated in the near future at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Reno, NV. Please RSVP to [email protected] to be notified. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Heifer International, – a wonderful non-profit that Marijuel supported to provide food, shelter and opportunity for struggling families around the world.

My sincerest sympathies to all of the Borges family. Your mom was a very special lady who I have very fond memories of, especially during my high school days with my beloved best friend Cece. She certainly lived a long and happy life. May your many wonderful memories of her stay with you always. Love, Gary and Cheryl Barrango

Jon and I send our condolences and prayers to the family. We got to know Marijuel through St. Rose of Lima where she and I sang in the choir some years ago. Marijuel was a kind and faithful person, and her independence and strength were a true example to others. She will be missed.
