Born in Oakland, CA. He entered the U.S. Navy in May 1944 where he was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the sinking of his ship, LSM®-190, at Okinawa. Upon returning to the Bay Area, he worked as a machinist and joined the Oakland fire department from 1950 – 1975. He lived in San Lorenzo, later moving to Santa Rosa and Vallejo. His love of reading, music and time on the tennis court lasted throughout his life.
He will be remembered as a loving husband by his wife Betty, and a wonderful father by his son Robert and daughter Barbara. His grandchildren Lisa, Danny, Mark and Kristen together with great-grandson Kyle will always cherish their memories of Papa Mark. No service is planned at this time.
