Masaye Sumimoto Obituary

Masaye Wada Sumimoto
Jan 2, 1924 - Feb 4, 2014

Mas passed away peacefully in her home in Berkeley amongst her family on February 4, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles (Wacky); children, Kathy (Jeff), Pam, Marty (Kim) and Kelly (Jim); grandchildren, Jordan, Emiko, Lora, Aaron, Allison and Nathan and buddy, Tiger. She is also survived by sisters, Tomi Hiromoto and Betty Takano and many nieces and nephews.

During her lifetime, Mas was a caring wife, mother and grandmother. Once her youngest started school, she worked hard at McDonnell's Florist and Schwabacher Frey Office Supply until her retirement. She spent countless hours supporting her kid's interests in sports, school and church activities.

In her free time she enjoyed sewing, shopping, bowling and traveling. She loved listening to stories about her children's and grandchildren's lives.

It was Mas' strength, wisdom and resilience that provided loving guidance through the years. We will miss her deeply.

kelly my deepest condolences

February 11, 2014

My sincere condolences to the Sumimoto Family in the loss of their beloved Mother. I have appreciated her opening her home to Uncle Gengo and Auntie Hannah and preparing all the Sunday and holiday dinners over the years.

In deepest sympathy,
