Matthew Joseph Cervelli

September 22, 1950 - July 3, 2018

Matthew passed away at home after a short illness. He was born and raised in the Sunset District of San Francisco. He attended Holy Name School, Lowell High School and San Francisco State College. After briefly living in the South Lake Tahoe area, he settled in Carmel Valley. Matt had a short career in the music promotion business and a much longer career in the retail and wholesale automobile industry in and around Monterey and the Central Coast region of California. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Georgene Rugg Cervelli and their beloved son, Angelo.
He was brother to Kathie (Parker), Gene, Patrick, Mark and Francesca Cervelli (Browner). His parents, Gene and Peggy Cervelli preceded him in death. Matthew leaves behind eleven nieces and nephews and as well as many cousins and lifelong friends.
Matthew was a true child of the 60's. He enjoyed music and the arts and had quite an eclectic palette. His favorite music, though, was San Francisco Rock and Roll and in particular The Grateful Dead. Having attended a hundred or so Dead shows, one would conclude that he was "on the bus" with the Dead's extended family. Those who spent time with him were always treated to good music and good conversation.
Matthew was also an avid sports fan. He loved the San Francisco 49ers and Giants and followed both teams with passion. As a youth Matt sold concessions and programs at Kezar and Candlestick Stadiums which allowed him to watch his teams more closely. He loyally rooted for his San Francisco teams all of his life!

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Matthew's name be made to The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
