MATTHEW MULREADY Obituary

Matthew Murray Mulready

Died unexpectedly at home in San Carlos on Tuesday March 29. The son of Tina Mulready of San Carlos and Jim Mulready of Sunnyvale, he was born on November 6, 1995 in Palo Alto. In addition to his parents, he leaves his sister Rebecca, and his aunts and uncles Mike and Linda Mulready of Colorado Springs, Theresa Mulready and Wilson Elliott of Scottsdale, Kathryn Kenney of Somerville, David and Pamela Kenney of New York City, Murray Kenney and Lisa James of Ross, numerous cousins, and his faithful companion, Winnie. Always a lover of the outdoors, Matthew spent happy days during family vacations, on his journey in Utah and playing baseball.
During the last two years of his life Matt struggled with addiction and the family acknowledges the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department, medical professionals and the many friends who supported all of them.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30 pm on Saturday April 9 at the Church of the Epiphany in San Carlos. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pound Puppy Rescue in Palo Alto.

Matthew, my son, not one day passes without you on my mind and in my heart. Now I am focused on remembering the good times we shared.

Oh, oh, how heartbreaking...I lost my younger daughter two years ago and in some small way I understand your grief. I was a member of Christ Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts for fifty years, and knew and loved Rev. Murray Kenney, with whom I see precious Matthew, his grandson, shared a name. Murray was deeply kind to my daughter when she was going through hard times, and for his care and love I am profoundly grateful. Life can be so terribly hard. I hope with all my heart that you find moments of rest. I love the picture of Matthew with his kitty! My Alyson had a much-loved kitty, too. May blessing and grace flow abundantly upon you. Your dear boy is at peace, and you did all you could do for him.

While I don't know Matthew, my daughter, Miranda, was a good friend of his and is missing him terribly. My heart is heavy with your loss.

Dear Rebecca and Tina,

I forgot to include in my prior note that Jeanette wanted you to know she wishes she could be there this Saturday.

She said since she is unable to come that I can give you both extra hug from her.

Always,

Dearest Tina and Rebecca,

I am saddened by Matthew's passing. His family meant so much to him, as I see from his writings. His love for you was and is always there.

As I told you, I remember as a child and even in middle school, before his voice changed, his giggle. He had such an infectious giggle, not laughter, but giggling.

I remember the fun we all had at Sutter's Fort in fourth grade where everyone got to be themselves and just have fun being a kid, even us grownups.

He, deep in his soul, was a kind and sweet young man with not a mean bone in his body. I will always remember him that way

I hope his pain is gone and that he has peace.

With much sadness and with much love.

God Bless you all.
