Maureen Mullins Obituary

Maureen Patricia Mullins

March 15, 1963 – October 3, 2016

Maureen Patricia Mullins passed away Monday, Oct 3, 2016, in Harrison, Arkansas, surrounded by caring friends and family. Maureen was born in San Francisco and grew up in San Mateo, graduating from Aragon High School in 1981. Maureen started her banking career at Bay View Bank, however a medical crisis (and multiple surgeries to address later challenges) in her early 20's prevented her from working any further in the general workforce.
Maureen ("Mo," to her friends) was a proud and patriotic California gal. Her personality, eclectic in nature, was one of generosity and compassion. She loved to knit, consume books, enjoyed cooking, and was fascinated with the worlds of pop culture and politics. Maureen shared her interests on social media, participating on various websites and making friends. Her Irish heritage never failed to assert itself when she stood her ground in contentious forum discussions, not one to mince words in getting her points across.
Maureen's travels would take her across the country and back again, ultimately making a permanent residence in Northwest Arkansas prior to her passing. Her passion for her canine friends was legendary, with writing a close second. Despite her physical limitations of mobility, Maureen was still able to touch the lives of many through her online columns on the subjects that mattered most to her. Friends could count on her daily texts and emails, laced with humor and the occasional artwork from Charles Shultz's Peanuts characters.
She lived life to the best of her ability for 53 years, never failing to give up her fighting spirit.
Maureen is survived by her parents, Mary (Hunt) and Bernard Mullins, her sister Kay, brothers Tom and John, brother-in-law Tom, sisters-in-laws Barbara and Joan, and many family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to Maureen's memorial mass to be held at St. Catherine's Church at 1310 Bayswaters Ave, Burlingame on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at 10:30am with burial in St. John's Cemetery immediately following the mass. Flowers can be sent to Crosby-N.Gray & Co. Funeral Home at 2 Park Road, Burlingame.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Maureen's name to either A Place to Bark (www.aplacetobark.org) or Northwest Arkansas Rescue of Canines, 5610 Hopewell Road, Harrison, AR 72601.

Mo! We had such fun in band. Horn girls rule! Too bad life and long distances got in all our ways and we all lost touch. Glad you found passion with dog rescue. Only the best people stand for those who have no voice. Rest easy old friend
